SERA 49: Heir Property Annual Meeting (In-Person)

Southern Extension and Research Activity (SERA) 49: Heirs' Property - Impacts at Family, Community, and Regional Levels. Active since 2023, ensures the dissemination of knowledge among heirs' property stakeholders, researchers, and practitioners. The in-person SERA 49 meeting will be held on February 3, 2026, in Louisville, KY, at the Omni Hotel and serves as a post conference event for the 2026 Southern Rural Sociological Association meetings. The SERA 49 meeting is open to stakeholders and practitioners in the heirs' property work at a cost of $50 per participant. (This cost is waived for those already paying registration for the SRSA meeting).  The objective of this meeting is to strengthen regional capacity, convene stakeholders to increase collaboration, introduce new practices and methodologies, and ultimately reduce involuntary land loss.

* SERAs are intended to bring together researchers and extension specialists sharing a common problem, issue, or disciplinary interest. The general objective is to provide a functionally integrated forum to coordinate joint activities to address stakeholder needs

Registration fee includes:

 

  • admission to all SAAS/SRSA concurrent sessions, panel discussions, poster sessions, keynote addresses, and SRSA business meeting and events, plus the 2026 SERA 49 Post-Conference Annual Meeting 

  • a one-year membership to the Southern Rural Sociological Association

  • ​The SRSA registration policy for the annual meeting is that all participants at the annual meeting must pay the registration fee either in advance or on-site. ​​
